The Resort - Nassfeld, Austria

Welcome to Nassfeld, a unique location for a very special event. This magical Austrian resort's close-knit community atmosphere makes it the ideal setting for that charming festival feel. As such, it's trumped every other snow-touched place in Europe to become the chosen home of Snowside '09. Nassfeld's bounteous credentials are all laid out below, but to condense into just a few words what would otherwise require a jabbering torrent of enthusiasm, we'd like you to know that it was an easy choice: spanking new and stylish infrastructure, guaranteed snow and more sunshine than you can shake your sunnies at. It had to be Nassfeld.

'Expect secret border-crossing parties late into the night, moonlit lakeside jaunts, midnight skiing, spectacular shows and mysterious mountainside adventures! Add to that the beautiful mountainscapes of the Alps' eFestivals

Where are we going to stay? Nassfeld

Snowside HQ – The Cube . It's an ice cube-esque building that not only offers cool design and comfortable accommodation, but also the best party location you could wish for, with space enough for 1,500 people, several stages, 4 bars and the happy coming together of like-minded party animals - all just 50m from the ski lift.

What's the snow like?

Blissfully reliable. Nassfeld, sandwiched between the Alps and the Mediterranean, benefits from the so-called "Adriatic Low". This means the slopes (generally between 1,000 and 2,000 metres above sea level) get a good, regular dump. Basically, expect loads of snow. If there's not – no problem. The resort boasts an arsenal of 220 snow cannons. Check out the latest updates here…

Will it be sunny?

Probably. Nassfeld's southern situation gives the resort 850 hours of sunshine during the winter season, about 100 sunny hours more than destinations to the north of the Alps.

Is the skiing good?

It's got a World Cup grade snow park, Europe's longest gondola (6kms) and also the longest night run in the Alps. The 110 km of wide, swoopy slopes are ideal for speed-freak carvers and there's plenty of top quality off-piste, often left untouched days after snowfall.

Non skiers are also embraced, welcomed and facilitated with many other varied and novel snow pursuits available, dedicated tubing and sledging runs, hiking and even snow biking as well as excellent nursery slopes for beginners and first timers. With lessons available you will have no excuses not to get involved.

Where is Nassfeld?

On the border of Italy and Austria, in the Carinthia region (nicknamed the "Snow Hole"). You can get there by…. plane, coach, car or train
