Metronomy

Although Metronomy’s elliptical, insidious, multi-coloured and richly textured art-pop sounds nothing like Cologne’s legendary purveyors of prog-disco, Can offer some clues to the lineage Metronomy belong to. Add early Brian Eno, Sparks, Devo, Talking Heads, Soft Cell, and then scratch your head for more recent examples of abstract music, full of experiment and risk and individuality, that somehow resolves itself into pop that makes you sing and dance and feel like a big kid, and realise that you can’t think of any because Metronomy are, in the current pop milieu, an utterly unique proposition.

Shy Child :

Shy Child was formed in NYC in 2000 by Pete Carfarella, (Synths, Vocals) and Nate Smith, Drums).  Both hold a fascination with electronic music and a love of progressive rock, resulting in a combined force of swirling, melodic keyboard, backed with powerful infectious drum beats and layers of driving vocals think hints of Daft Punk, Silver Apples and Timbaland all mixed into one glorious sound.  Noise Won’t Stop is the catchiest tune this side of the summer. Slagsmalsklubben

It is a sad day, November 2 2000, for Beebop and Björn at Joni's place in Norrköping, Sweden. The singer of their band The Solbrillers, a quirky progressive and rather noisy rock band, have not yet shown up for their rehearsals. Instead they plug an old toy synthesizer into Joni's ridiculous and tiny little Christmas gift amplifier and stare right into Gods ears when destroying the lovely, shitty sound with distortion. Eddy Temple-Morris

Since launching The Remix, Xfm ’s legendary (and Sony Award nominated) crossover radio show/club night six years ago, Eddy Temple-Morris has   become the undisputed champion not just of genre-hopping but of genre-breeding, slipping enough pills into dance music’s pint until it finds itself curled up in the corner of the room with rock’s dangly bits in its mouth. The show is now the biggest specialist show on Xfm and the only one that is mainlined into XFMs national broadcasting network. That’s why artists from Kasabian to Liam Howlett rate his presenting skills, his DJing skills and his-hat-wearing skills above all others. It’s why his remixes have graced recent b-sides from the likes of Athlete , Delays and Engineers , why Gary Snow Patrol calls him ‘twisted genius’. And it’s why, after Eddy founded IBIZA ROCKS in 2005 , that he was rated as “the future of Ibiza”. Read more…
